My friend has a “girlfriend”.
If you look up “high maintenance” in the dictionary you will see her picture with a big warning symbol.
Somehow she convinced my friend to buy her a new couch. She needed a couch, but not one of the most expensive ones the store had to offer. But that is exactly what she wanted and would accept nothing else and that is exactly what he bought her.
Not only did he buy her the couch but he gave her the free 55 inch television that came with the purchase even though he was currently looking for a new TV for himself.
So was my friend an idiot or crazy?
Here are the facts, you decide…
1. My friend could afford the couch so it wouldn’t cause him any financial burden.
2. The same week a very popular and good brand name TV had an $800 off manufacturer’s sale on a really incredible 65 inch 4K Ultra HD Curved TV. He thought he was going to miss out because the sale was only for a limited quantity. It was an incredible deal and was going fast. The TV was sold out on every site he searched on the internet. He tried checking local stores in his home town. They were all sold out until he tried one last store which actually had a few left.
3. He got his TV. I’ve seen it. It is incredible. And he saved money which made up for a lot of what he paid for the couch.
4. His “girlfriend’s” TV just the other day has a defect with a huge white line running down the center of it.
Good Karma, Bad Karma?
Was it actually a smart decision for my friend to buy her the couch?
When we give in this life we are given back in return, usually in multiples of what we have given.
When we unnecessarily take from others in this life we will be taken from too.
So make sure your giving exceeds your taking. The amazing thing is if you do that you will always find yourself with more than you will ever need.
